Poggio
Pelliccia cont..
The
tomb of Poggio Pelliccia dates from VII B.C. and appears to have been
used until mid V century BC by a family of aristocratic origins. Historically
this has been a period which marked the decline of the big centre of Vetulonia
in favour of its countryside and surrounding areas.
The
economical slowdown of the major center was testified by the decline of
number of tombs and riches found in them.
The
tomb was discovered in 1972, unfortunately very much looted. The remains
found in the tomb and the ornaments which are now kept in the Archaeological
Museum in Florence, helped reconstructing its origins.
